Definitions (according to IEC 61010-031 standard, "Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use - Part 031 Safety requirements for hand-held probe assemblies for electrical measurement and test") : CAT III (measurement category III) : measurements performed in the building installation. Examples are measurements on distribution boards, circuit-breakers, wiring, including cables, bus-bars, junction boxes, switches, socket-outlets in the fixed installation, and equipment for industrial use and some other equipment, for example, stationary motors with permanent connection to the fixed installation. Reinforced insulation and double
insulation ( Pollution : addition of foreign matter, solid, liquid or gaseous (ionized gazes), that may produce a reduction of dielectric strength or surface resistivity. Pollution degree 2 : normally only non-conductive pollution occurs. Occasionally, however, a temporary conductivity caused by condensation must be expected. Breaking capacity : maximum current a fuse is able to break safely. The breaking capacity of the class CC fuses is more than one of the standard fuses ( 200 kiloAmpere against 120 kiloAmpere ) because they are intended to protect high power circuits. For this reason, they must not be replaced unintentionally by standard fuses else they may explode and create damages and hurts in case of overload. |
